Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks Front Office Assistant

The incumbent is one of the first persons at HARO to greet and assist our external customers with their license & information needs.  The incumbent must present a professional, friendly, and helpful demeanor.  This position answers phone inquiries, researches topics, accurately conduct sales, collects monies, balances the cash drawer. 

This position is directly involved in keeping the orderliness of our Front Desk Interpretive Center/Lobby ensuring that the publication & brochure racks are stocked with seasonally pertinent information and inventory on hand is adequate for demand. The incumbent also completes varied administrative tasks for our internal customers in support of the various programs of the Fish, Wildlife, Enforcement & Parks divisions as directed by the Lead Administrative Assistant.

Other duties as assigned:

  • Clean customer counter twice weekly
  • Clean/disinfect ALS machine keyboards weekly
  • Clean front and back doors weekly
  • Stock copy paper under counter
  • Fill copy machine, fax machine, and front office printers with paper
  • Clean countertops in meeting rooms
  • Empty recycling bins
  • Water plants in lobby
  • Fill regulation displays
  • Get regulations and other materials from warehouse
  • Shovel sidewalks occasionally
  • Help with special mailings
  • Empty shredder receptacle
  • Assemble informational material packets as requested
  • Copy/scan as requested
  • Straighten/clean meeting rooms as needed
  • Answer phones regarding hunting/licensing questions
  • Selling licenses and answering question from walk-in customers
  • Assisting with tagging furbearers during trapping season.  This would include obtaining harvest information from hunter and inputting into MRRE.
  • Assisting with block management requests and explaining the program to our customers.
  • Help fisheries with miscellaneous duties
  • Good communication skills are important, as student will be representing FWP

Employment Specifications:  Work-Study Only

Approximate Hours/Week:  15 to 20 hours per week

Special Time/Schedule Requirements:  Flexible - between 8am and 5pm, Monday through Friday 

Length of Employment:  Academic Year

Wage Rate:  $8.75/hour
