Library Circulation Supervisor

Carroll College, an independent, Catholic, diocesan, liberal arts college located in Helena, MT is seeking a detail-oriented, collaborative individual who is an excellent communicator to serve as Circulation Supervisor for the Corette Library.

This 10-month benefitted, part-time position (23.5 hours per week) is responsible for:

  • Supervising all library circulation activities, including print, media, and equipment circulation using library software, stack maintenance, and course reserves; 

  • Recruiting, training, supervising and managing library student workers, directing their work and ensuring the work of the library (sorting, shelving, shelf reading, processing materials, etc.) is completed during work shifts.

  • Staffing and scheduling work study students on the Circulation Desk;

  • Providing directional and informational assistance and simple reference assistance to users, requiring a general knowledge of the library’s physical facility, organization, collections and policies.

  • Fulfilling interlibrary loan requests using the Tipasa system; 

  • Staying current with library circulation and interlibrary loan management technology and trends and recommending best practices for library staff in these areas;

  • Managing the scheduling of library rooms; 

  • Opening or closing the library building during an assigned shift;

  • Compiling statistics and submitting reports to the Library Director; 

Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor's degree; competence using computers (including MS Office); knowledge of, or experience with, library management software or integrated library systems; demonstrated supervisory, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; and demonstrated ability to work well as a member of a team. This position requires an individual who is adept at working with different user groups (e.g. faculty, students, staff, alumni, public) and who can exercise sound judgment implementing library procedures and policies when working with library users and work study students. This position reports to the Library Director. Salary is $20,986.02 to $22,056.58, dependent on experience and qualifications. 

The work schedule is for 4-5 hour shifts Monday - Friday, with a monthly or bimonthly Saturday shift replacing a work week day. The hours worked Monday - Friday can be flexible, but must commit to a regular schedule.
