Assistant Professor of Social Work – Masters Program

Description: Carroll College, a private, Catholic liberal arts college located in Helena, Montana seeks a full-time, permanent, tenure-track faculty member to join our new, clinically-focused online master of social work (MSW) program. This position would join the faculty in the 2023 – 2024 academic year.

Carroll’s MSW program was initially launched Fall 2021. The curriculum is anchored in four focal areas: trauma-informed / resilience-focused care, evidence-based practices, integrated / interprofessional care, and professional leadership. A driving goal of the program is to help meet the tremendous need for mental health practitioners in Montana and across the nation, equipping graduates with the knowledge and skills required to ethically and effectively serve culturally diverse clients in a variety of practice settings. The Assistant Professor of Social Work develops and teaches graduate-level courses aligning with the program’s curricular focus. Duties also include student mentoring and advising, professional development that can include scholarship and research, department and College service, active community involvement as a representative of the department and College, and other tasks essential to the department.  The position can be configured as remote or in-person. 

Qualifications: The successful candidate will have a Master of Social Work degree from a CSWE-accredited program and at least two years post-MSW degree practice experience, a doctoral degree – preferably in social work, a commitment to high-quality and innovative social work education, excellent communication and interpersonal skills necessary for effective collaboration with a diverse community of students, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders, and strong organizational, problem solving, and time management skills. Preferred qualifications include a valid, current and unencumbered clinical social work license, experience teaching or training in a higher education setting, experience in program development and program assessment and be proficient in online instructional and assessment technologies and software.
