Academic Technology - Digital Media Technician

The Carroll College Academic Technology Department is looking for student assistants interested in one or more of the following areas: digital media services, digital media production, audio visual (A/V) technology, marketing communications, academic technology training, and field technical support.

Responsibilities may include (but not limited to):

  • Assisting in the promotion of Academic Technology (AT) services and resources to our students, faculty and staff.
  • Assist in the design of print and digital media, production of video and audio content, design and printing of 3D models, and creation/editing of web content.
  • Assist in expanding our online video presence by producing and editing instructional videos and promos.
  • Provide instruction on the proper use and set up of audio/visual equipment, the operation of sound systems, and perform simple maintenance as required.
  • Troubleshoot and correct common problems with A/V equipment.
  • Work directly with students, faculty, and staff to assist in the use and integration of technology, studio and lab operation, creative consultation, and technical support.
  • Work with administrators to check out/in equipment and keep track of inventory.
  • Acquire an understanding of what equipment is available in our inventory and gain competence in the integration and operation of each piece of equipment.
  • Assist staff with special projects as requested.
  • Learn and develop new technical skills.
  • Other duties as assigned.

This position is for a student with a background, OR INTEREST in technology, especially but not exclusively digital media. Applicants DO NOT need to possess ALL of the skills listed above to be considered. Student employees will have the opportunity to work mostly in an area of interest they are most comfortable with, while learning new skills to expand their abilities. Employment Specifications: Work Study Preferred

Approximate Hours/Week: 6 to 10 hours per week depending on student schedule

Special Time/Schedule Requirements:  Flexible

Length of Employment: 2021/2022 Academic Year

Wage Rate:  $8.75/hour
