Representatives from Carroll admin and the Helena PD will provide short presentations on their policies, as well as a student who has experience hosting safe, legal, and fun events at their home. This event will be panel-style, so after the presentations, there will be time for students to ask any questions they may have. There will also be conversations about preventing drinking and driving, what Carroll is doing to ensure students have a safe ride home, as well as general tips about finding a sober ride. Additionally, the event will address sexual assault prevention, how to improve Carroll's culture, and ways to intervene if needed. In general, this event will serve as a place for students to come with their questions and open minds, both to learn about safe practices and to contribute positively to Carroll's culture. If there are any questions about the event and how to advertise it, email Ellie Sievertsen at esievertsen@carroll.edu or Dean of Students Annette Walstad at awalstad@carroll.edu. Carroll Campus Hunthausen Activity Center HAC Climbing Tower 7:00pm Bishop Vetter LGBTQ Listening Session 02/23/2022 - 7:00pm to 8:30pm At the request of Pope Francis and Bishop Vetter, a unique opportunity is upcoming. In brief: as part of a special Church structure called a synod, Bishop Vetter is coming to campus to listen to experiences centering on LGBTQ issues and to answer questions related to these issues. This meeting will take place on Feb. 23 @ 7pm in the Siena Ross rooms of the lower Cube. All Carroll community members are welcome to participate. The event will not be open to the larger Helena community. What follows is a more fulsome explanation of this endeavor: What is a Synod? What does this Synod consist of? There will be a special emphasis on listening to groups that are often considered marginalized or “on the peripheries” as Pope Francis has said. With that in mind, on Feb. 23rd @ 7pm, Bishop Vetter will be at Carroll to conduct a listening session regarding concerns about LGBTQ issues followed by a time of question and answer with him. All perspectives on these issues will be welcome. What Will Take Place? Who May Attend? When and Where?
