Do You Speak the Language of Faith?

We do. In fact, like noted Christian author, Phyllis Tickle, we are fluent in “God Talk” with its many dialects, because we know that the topics of God and spirituality are very personal, and held close to the heart. Indeed, our spirituality shapes our worldview. Our mission is to bring God into the public conversation again, no matter where you are in your faith journey. If we can start listening to each other about the things of faith, we have a chance to make our world a better place.

At Yellowstone Theological Institute, we are educating men and women in our academic degree programs and raising a new generation of church leaders who share the truth and love of God with our world.

Nursing White Coat & Hand Blessing Ceremony

Nursing White Coat and Hand Blessing Ceremony graphic

10/11/2021 - 5:00pm to 6:00pm

On Monday, October 11th at 5:00 p.m., the Carroll College Nursing Program will host its annual White Coat and Hand Blessing Ceremony in the All Saints Chapel on the Carroll College campus for nursing students and invited guests. The White Coat Ceremony is a rite of passage to emphasize the importance of compassionate patient care. This interfaith ceremony recognizes the dedication of nurses to bring comfort, kindness, respect, and spiritual support to patients.

This year's ceremony continues the tradition of the White Coat Ceremony that was incorporated into the Hand Blessing ceremony starting in 2018. Nursing students are given a specially designed pin, provided by The Arnold P. Gold Foundation, that serves as a visual reminder of their commitment to providing high-quality care with humanism at the core of their practice.

The ceremony will include music from Linda Meuret and her string ensemble and there will be a reception with light refreshments directly following the ceremony in the lobby of All Saints Chapel.

Given that our community is still experiencing COVID-19 infections, other important details:

  1. Attendees are asked to wear face coverings (covering nose and mouth), except those at the time they are giving a speech.
  2. Physical distancing is encouraged.
  3. If attendees are exhibiting any symptoms, they are asked to stay home and not attend.

About the White Coat Ceremony

The White Coat Ceremony was initiated in 1993 by Arnold P. Gold, MD, a professor and pediatric neurologist, who was a passionate advocate for humanistic healthcare. Dr. Gold believed that the oath taken by new physicians at the end of medical school came too late. Through the nonprofit organization that he and his wife, Dr. Sandra Gold started, The Arnold P. Gold Foundation has expanded the White Coat Ceremony around the globe.

Montana ShakeOut Earthquake Drill
10/21/2021 - 10:15am to 10:30am

Carroll College is participating in the 2021 The Great Montana Shakeout: Annual Statewide Earthquake Drill on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at 10:21 am.

The Great Montana ShakeOut is part of a global effort to Earthquake ShakeOut drills supported by federal, state, and local emergency management personnel to educate people on how to protect themselves in case of an earthquake.

Before this upcoming drill, please make sure your contact information for Regroup is correct.  To do this, please verify your contact information by using Carroll Apps. Click on the Emergency Notification icon.

Drill Expectations:

  • Faculty and Staff: please announce in your classes, meetings, or offices at 10:21 am on Thursday, October 21, 2021, the three steps recommended in case of an earthquake.
    • DROP! Drop to the ground before the earthquake drops you to the ground.
    • COVER! Seek cover under a sturdy desk or table.
    • HOLD ON!  Hold on to your position until the earthquake tremors have stopped.  Be aware of Aftershock tremors!
  • A notice will be sent through the Emergency Notification System (Regroup) to all Carroll students and employees at 10:21 am, on Thursday, October 21, 2021.
  • The notice will advise the campus of the "earthquake drill" and procedures to follow in case of an earthquake.
  • The Emergency Preparedness Staff have asked that all participants remain in position (Drop, Cover, and Hold on) on the floor or ground for one minute.
  • A subsequent message will be sent out to the campus advising students and employees that the drill is over.

Carroll College's participation in this global-wide drill will afford us the opportunity to test our Emergency Messaging System as well.  Please contact the IT Department if you don't receive the emergency message via your cell phone or email so we can help you update your information in the Regroup System.

To learn more about emergency preparedness in the event of an earthquake, go to  https://www.shakeout.org/howtoparticipate/

Thank you in advance for your participation!

ASCE and EWB would like to hold a barbecue all students are invited to. The main purpose of this barbecue is to allow any students interested in ASCE/EWB, especially non-engineering students, a chance to come and learn about what the clubs have to offer. Non-engineering students often don't know that they are welcome to join ASCE/EWB, and even engineering students don't always know what the clubs do. We will have a fun, friendly atmosphere and have free food (first come, first serve) and some fun, engineering-related games and activities.
