Telling Stories One Scientist to Another: Lab Girl and Carroll College's Women in Science

You are invited to celebrate the NEA Big Read Kickoff! Dr. Jennifer Glowienka will host a conversation with six of Carroll College's esteemed women in science. They'll explore themes from "Lab Girl" by Hope Jahren, this year's NEA Big Read choice by the Lewis & Clark Library. Topics will include the funding scene for science, experiences in labs around the country, and favorite stories about living their dreams. This fun and interesting discussion is free and open to the public. The panelists will be:

  • Dr. Caroline Pharr, Associate Professor of Chemistry
  • Dr. Julie Kessler, Assistant Professor of Chemistry
  • Dr. Stefanie Otto-Hitt, Associate Professor of Biology
  • Dr. Theresa McHugh, Assistant Professor of Biology

Our first show of the season will be They Promised Her the Moon by Laurel Ollstein, running Sept 27-Oct 6, 2019. This show is about Jerrie Cobb, one of the first women to be tested for space flight. Dee Smith III will be directing.
