Running Club Shoe Drive

Running Club Shoe Donation Graphic

04/24/2022 - 9:00am to 04/30/2022 - 4:00pm

Spring has officially sprung! And you know what that means - it's time for spring cleaning! If you have any old shoes that you no longer want to clog up your closet, toss them in the designated collection bins distributed throughout your dorm building! Running Club is collecting and donating any unwanted shoes to God's Love so that they can be reused by those who need them. This event will occur during the last week of April (4/24 - 4/30). Collection bins will be distributed throughout Guadalupe Hall, St. Charles, Borromeo, and Trinity. Clean-up will take place at the end of the day on 4/30.

And don't forget to join us on Fridays at 2 pm outside the HAC for a run in the great weather.

The event will be live streamed concurrently on Zoom. Get Zoom link

About Dr. Fernando Villanea

Fernando Villanea is a population geneticist specializing in human pre-history, interested in topics such as Neanderthal-human admixture, and the effects of Neanderthal and other archaic genome variants inherited by people today.

Dr. Villanea's current research focuses on the Neanderthal and Denisovan ancestry in American populations, and how these archaic variants provided the genetic diversity for these populations to adapt to the novel environments found in the American continent.

Theatre: Maria and the Butterflies

04/21/2022 - 7:30pm to 9:30pm

HELENA – Carroll College Theatre is producing Maria and the Butterflies by Katherine Gee Perrone with score by Dana Cardon which runs April 21 through May 1, 2022. This world-premiere musical was commissioned by Carroll College Theatre to tell the story of Maria Sibylla Merian, a painter and scientist from the 1600s who studied and illustrated the metamorphosis of bugs and butterflies in Germany, The Netherlands, and South America. This hour-long musical tells the story of her life from age 13 until late in her life, and features puppets of insects, caterpillars, butterflies, and more to portray the process of metamorphosis which Maria helped to illuminate in a world where many still believed Aristotle’s theory that maggots sprung spontaneously from meat. The show will be entertaining for all ages, and is recommended particularly for elementary-aged children.

Carroll Theatre will host audiences for school day matinees as well as weekend performances for the public. Associate Professor Kim Shire is directing, Anna Milburn is music directing, and Amber Barnes is Associate Director. Tickets available now at www.carroll.edu/theatre.

Other items of interest:

  • Shows are April 21, 22, 23, 28, 29, 30 at 7:30 pm and April 24, May 1 at 2:30 pm
  • Tickets are $15 for general public, $10 for students and seniors, $5 for Carroll ID and children under 13.
  • Tickets are on sale now via the Carroll College Theatre Facebook page (facebook.com/CarrollCollegeTheatre(link is external)) or the Carroll College Theatre website (www.carroll.edu/tickets).

04/28/2022 - 8:30pm to 9:30pm

Come for a night of Christian praise and prayer!

Campus Ministry is partnering with Chi Alpha to put on a Praise Night for students in St. Charles 133. It will be an hour of praise and worship music by students and staff of both of those organizations. We'll have snacks and a time to hang out afterward!

"O come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise." Psalm 95:1
