It is very important that students considering a career in pharmacy attend this meeting.

Dr. Zins is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Pharmacy and the pre-pharmacy advisor at the University of Montana. She is a practicing community pharmacist with research and professional interests in rural health, geriatrics, and asthma.

Plural Parenting: Good, Bad & Ugly

Plural Parenting graphic

04/07/2022 - 7:00pm to 8:15pm

On Thursday, April 7th, 7:00 p.m., Dr. Katie Acosta of Georgia State University will be giving an evening presentation entitled "Plural Parenting: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly" based on her research with queer stepfamilies in which she explores paths to parenthood and experiences of raising children in same-sex families. Free and open to the public.

Access online Zoom presentation here

Acosta uses the term plural parenting to describe children’s multiple parents of different genders and sexual identities and the varied relationships they maintain. Her research finds that families formed after a same-sex relationship dissolution are more likely to maintain either a strong or tolerable parenting relationship than other family forms after dissolution. Her talk unpacks why this might be and the lessons plural parenting can impart for us all.

Sponsored by: Sociologists for Women in Society (SWS) and The Carroll College Departments of Gender Studies, Sociology, Languages and Literature, Theater, and Health Sciences.
