Spring TYA (Theatre for Young Audiences) Show Audition Notice When: Tuesday, February 9 from 7:00-9:00 pm. Arrive a few minutes early to fill out paperwork; Audition will begin on the hour! Where: Carroll College Flex Theatre Description: This show will be a unique theatre experience for everyone involved! The theme of the show is about building community and the script is a movement-based form that features adapted Aesop’s Fables and scenes that will be devised by the cast and directors in a workshop setting. Run time will be 30-45 minutes. Under the direction of theatre faculty and staff, Julia Harris and Amber Barnes, with additional guest directors, this show will be a very collaborative project. What to bring/prepare: Please make sure to bring a water bottle, wear clothing you can move in, and closed toed shoes that are easy to move in -- this is a movement-based show. Bring your courage, silliness, and curiosity. Be prepared to make big choices. No monologue or scene preparation for this audition. Who can audition: Anyone from any major, including cast members from “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” are welcome to audition. The rehearsals for this show will not conflict with the Midsummer rehearsals. Roles: This will be an ensemble cast with lots of different roles. Rehearsals: Rehearsals for this show will be a little different due to the nature of how we are putting this together. Please read the details carefully and make sure you have the availability to audition. We are looking at 3 weekend rehearsals (one day, 2-3 hours) to workshop the scenes between fables -- this is where the cast will help to determine the script through improvisation. Dates will be the weekends of February 13, 20, and 27. Specific day/time based on cast availability. There will be a break for Midsummer tech and opening, and final scripts to be written. Weekday evening rehearsals begin on Monday, March 15. M-F evenings through Opening of the show on April 16th. Questions?: This is a different approach and process than we have done before so please feel free to ask Julia or Amber any questions before you audition. We want to see you there and provide you clarity for this endeavor! Julia Harris -- juharris@carroll.edu; Amber Barnes -- ambarnes@carroll.edu Carroll Campus Campus Center Flex Theatre |
