Triple Crown

Carroll College was a triple award winner when U.S. News & World Report released their latest college rankings for 2016 this week.

Topping the list for the fifth straight year, Carroll College is, once again, the top rated Regional College in the West. Carroll earned a perfect score of 100 with the 2016 rankings providing data on nearly 1,400 schools.

In addition to the #1 ranking for Best Regional College in the West, Carroll moved into the top spot for Best Value College in the West, having been ranked second last year. And, new to Carroll this year is a #1 ranking as Best Regional College in the West for Veterans. Carroll also retained the top standing for Regional Colleges in the West in the Freshman Retention Rate category, with an 82% retention rate.

The “Best Colleges” rankings, released annually by U.S. News & World Report, provide one of the most comprehensive and reputable assessments of how nearly 1,400 accredited four-year schools compare on a set of 16 indicators of excellence. Among the quality factors measured in the rankings are peer assessment, graduation and student retention rates, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources and alumni giving.

New Toys in the Sandbox

Over the summer, the Corette Library Sandbox got a few exciting updates.

First of all, three of the projectors are now touch-enabled, so that users no longer need to find a stylus before interacting with the display. Anyone can simply touch with their finger and start browsing. In addition to touch technology, all projectors in the room continue to be fully accessible from Mac and Windows laptops using the Epson EasyMP software.

Beginning this August, the computers and projectors in the Sandbox are now equipped with Epson’s new multi-PC projection software, which allows a professor to view multiple students’ screens and select which one appears on the displays in the room.

The two televisions and northern displays in the room are also equipped with AppleTVs, which allows full mirroring from iOS and Mac OS X devices.

In short, the Sandbox is even more dynamic and flexible than it’s ever been!

Carroll Calling

September 14th will mark the kick-off date for Carroll College’s IMPACT fall phonathon. Our students are excited to start calling Carroll alums and chat about all the exciting things happening at Carroll this year. We hope you will join with other Carroll alumni and friends to create a better future by investing in a Carroll education.

The moment I realized how special Carroll College is was move-in day my freshman year; upperclassmen emptied my car, carrying all of my belongings up 4 steep flights of stairs. This seemingly simple act of service has set the precedent for my time at Carroll. Each member of our community is devoted to giving back however they can; whether it’s my professor staying after class to help me comprehend complex material, a friendly conversation with the custodial staff, or a $10 donation to IMPACT by a graduate. Carroll has become my home because of these daily displays of kindness, and I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to be part of this.
