Presidential COVID-19 Update: October 21, 2020

Marching Back Update Graphic

Dear Students, Faculty and Staff,

Each day, students are coming out of quarantine and isolation as the initial surge of cases continues to diminish.  However, the college does continue to see new cases, and students, faculty, and staff should remain diligent with handwashing, wearing face coverings, and social distancing. We will update the prevalence report on Friday.

Particularly as we enter the Halloween weekend, and then into preparation for final exams, it will take all of us working together to stay healthy and safe.

Dining Services
Dining Services has returned to service in the STAC.  Grab and go meals are still available for students who would prefer that option, though students now will choose their own carry-out meals.  Students who have comments or concerns about Sodexo dining services should email General Manager Joe Straub at  Joseph.Straub@sodexo.com.

COVID-19 Active Case Action Team
As we continue to refine our processes and procedures, the COVID-19 Active Case Action Team has been formed.  Led by Athletic Director Charlie Gross, this team is meeting daily at 4 p.m. to ensure we are able to move students into isolation and quarantine housing as quickly as possible and to:

  • Respond to new positive cases and close contacts

  • Coordinate meal and wellness supply deliveries

  • Creating a schedule to sanitizing rooms when students are released from their health orders

  • Resolve specific student issues related to COVID-19

Comments or ideas for the team can be directed to covid19@carroll.edu

Asymptomatic COVID-19 Testing
The location for faculty and staff testing is being moved to the Sienna Room in the Lower Campus Center. Starting on Wednesday, October 21 faculty and staff will be able to test:

  • Wednesday: 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

  • Thursday: 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

  • NOTE: Faculty and Staff can also test at the PE Center on Monday and Tuesday at the times below.

Next week, testing for students will continue on Monday, October 26 and Tuesday, October 27:

  • Wellness Center: Monday 9 am - 12 pm  and 1 pm - 4 pm, Tuesday 9 am - 12 pm

  • PE Center: 12 pm - 2 pm

Students who are currently experiencing COVID-19 symptoms should:

  • Call the Carroll College Wellness Center at 406-447-5441 during regular business hours, 9 am - 12 pm and 1 pm - 4 pm, Monday through Friday (do not go to the center before calling first).

  • After hours, call the St. Peter’s Urgent Care hotline at: 406-457-4180. To get a test at Urgent Care without a provider order, tell Urgent Care that you need to be seen by a provider. Then you will become an Urgent Care patient, and the provider that sees you can provide a test.

  • If you have been informed by a healthcare provider or Lewis and Clark Public Health that you have either tested positive or are a close contact of someone who has tested positive, please complete the appropriate reporting form on our website.

Asymptomatic Testing and Quarantine
Faculty, staff and students that do not have symptoms and are taking advantage of the off campus testing, do not need to quarantine while awaiting results.  Students, faculty, or staff that are symptomatic, or are a close contact with a COVID-19 positive person should quarantine while awaiting results, and, even if the results are negative, follow any orders, guidance or directives given by Lewis and Clark County Public Health.
