Presidential COVID-19 Update: January 8, 2021

Marching Back Update Graphic

Students,

We are excited for your return to campus and spring 2021. Over the break we have been planning, meeting with public health, and applying the lessons learned from COVID-19 in fall 2020. You will receive another message early next week about testing protocols before you return to campus but in the meantime, please remember:

  • Start quarantining now.  All students should quarantine 10 days before returning to campus. Staying free of COVID-19 at the start of the semester is a key strategy to accomplishing a safe and healthy in-person start.

  • Get a test.  If possible you should get a COVID-19 test in your community within 5 days of returning to campus.

  • Be ready to test when you come back.  We have great news! Carroll College was able to upgrade our testing to a saliva test with a 24 to 48 hour turnaround time. We will be asking all students to test when they come back. Testing times and locations will be sent early next week.

  • Keep your mask handy.  Carroll College, the State of Montana, and Lewis and Clark County all have current policies requiring masks. Please continue to follow the same mask rules the campus observed this fall.

  • Wait a minute, I’ve had COVID-19.  Students who tested positive in the last 90 days, do not need to test based on the latest guidance from public health. However, we will be asking you to report that information to covid19@carroll.edu. More information will be available on Monday.

In the coming days, we will be sending more information about ongoing testing, what we are hearing about possible vaccinations, and a number of other details. In the meantime, enjoy the last week of winter break.

Thank you,

Marching Forward Team
