Nursing Graduates Earn 100% Pass Rate on National Licensure Exam

2020 Nursing Graduates

HELENA – Carroll College is proud to announce that its nursing program received a 100% pass rate on the NCLEX-RN national licensure exam. The National Council Licensure Exam for Registered Nurses was administered to all 38 graduates of the class of 2020. The national average for first-time NCLEX-RN test takers is 88%.

"We are so excited to congratulate the May 2020 nursing graduates who obtained a 100% pass rate on the NCLEX-RN national licensure exam. This achievement is a testament to the dedication and hard-work our students and faculty put in day in and day out,” said Nursing Department Chair Karmen Williams, RN, MSN. “By passing the NCLEX-RN, our students have successfully taken their first important step into this essential and fulfilling profession.”

Graduates of the Carroll College nursing program have consistently found success in career placement. All of the May 2020 nursing graduates who were seeking job placement directly following graduation have found employment in the nursing field. These graduates obtained positions in health facilities throughout the country including Washington D.C., Tennessee, Washington, Colorado, North Dakota, and numerous cities across Montana.

While Carroll’s nursing department is extremely proud of the quality of their program and the caliber of nurses who graduate from Carroll, they recognize that credit for their students' success is shared throughout the college. “We very much appreciate and acknowledge all of the faculty and staff at the college who help grow these students throughout their time at Carroll. ‘It takes a village’ and the whole college has a role in achievements such as this,” said Williams.

Nursing has a long and distinguished history at Carroll College. Following WWII, Carroll began accepting women for the nursing program in cooperation with the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth. The baccalaureate nursing program began in 1973 with the first baccalaureate nursing class graduating in 1977. Over the course of 47 years, Carroll has graduated over 1,000 students with a bachelor’s degree in nursing.

Carroll College is committed to educating skilled and compassionate nurses to enter the healthcare field. In addition to their well-regarded undergraduate program, Carroll has added a post-baccalaureate accelerated nursing program as well. The program is designed for students who have earned a bachelor’s degree (in any field) and want to complete additional coursework required to become a licensed Registered Nurse. Accelerated Nursing students will graduate in 15 months with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Carroll College. The BSN at Carroll College is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, and is also approved by the Montana State Board of Nursing.

Carroll’s nursing program is also benefiting from the new E. L. Wiegand Nursing Simulation Center at Carroll College. The center features three new state-of-the-art simulation labs with seven high fidelity patient simulator manikins and an observation room. The new facility promotes teaching and engaged learning through high-impact practice in a safe and realistic healthcare setting.
