HELENA – Carroll College is seeing its strongest enrollment deposit activity in over five years, indicating a strong level of excitement for the fall of 2019. Applications and deposits have been particularly strong in programs such as direct entry nursing, which allows students to enter into the nursing program as first-years, pre-medicine, and Anthrozoology, which is a national draw due to its unique work with animals and strong job placement rates. While students are not required to deposit prior to May 1 at any school, the commitment shown through the early deposit activity reflects our incoming students’ enthusiasm about choosing Carroll College.
There are a few deadlines on the horizon for students and their parents as they consider college for next year. Carroll is still accepting applications and the regular decision deadline for this year is February 28. "Regular decision students can expect a decision within ten days, and completing the application by February 28 ensures availability of financial aid and sets a student up for success," said Admissions Director Laurie Rodriguez.
The second set of deadlines on the horizon are for scholarships and financial aid. Some of Carroll’s largest first-year scholarships, such as the "Not for School but for Life" award, close on March 1. The "Not for School but for Life" scholarship is a unique award that allows students to send a video essay explaining what the school motto means to them. Carroll College raised all of its merit scholarship levels by $3,000 last year, making the top merit scholarship level $22,000, which is just the starting point as other grants and scholarships are awarded.
"I think the excitement about fall 2019 is coming from two things," first year President Dr. John Cech said. "The first is our exceptional student outcomes and the second is the great experiences they have while they are enrolled here at Carroll." Cech noted that the college has the best four-year graduation rate in a five state region, an 85% acceptance rate to medical school over the past fifteen years, and a 100% pass rate for nursing students on the NCLEX exam last year.
In terms of the student experience, Cech pointed out several projects and initiatives that give students at Carroll College a unique experience such as undergraduate research, a Catholic social justice mission, a new entrepreneurship program, and many travel and study abroad opportunities. With the ongoing renovation of the library into a state-of-the-art Learning Commons, the lower level now houses the new Center for Professional Communication, which in addition to offering assistance in writing, speaking and research, includes technology for developing innovative video and digital presentations. Additional investments in facilities like the Hunthausen Activity Center for student recreation, new campus apartments, and the All Saints Chapel provide students even more reasons to choose Carroll College.
