Educating our Veterans

ROTC students at Carroll

At Carroll, we are proud to welcome and support our service members and veterans as they pursue their higher education. We recognize and value the contributions they bring to our campus community. Their world experience, combined with their specialty skills and leadership qualities, bring a different perspective to the classroom. We also appreciate their ability to mentor students who are considering joining the military or experiencing real world challenges

Carroll College has a rich history serving military members stemming back to 1943 when Carroll College participated in the U.S. Navy’s V-12 program. The principal initiative Carroll currently has in place to assist veterans is the Yellow Ribbon Program which in accordance with the post 9/11-GI bill provides a tuition-free education to qualifying veterans. Carroll currently has 50 students receiving some form of VA educational benefits of which 26 are veterans and two are reservists. Of the total 50, 24 are participating in the Yellow Ribbon Program.

Additionally, Carroll College is equally as privileged and honored to assist the dependents and spouses of military members and veterans in their pursuit of a college education. “We believe that taking care of military family members correlates to a stronger community, both on and off campus.  Therefore, we continually strive to implement relevant services that promote a rich learning environment, and enhance the overall health and well-being of service members, veterans and their family members,” said Brandy Keely, Carroll’s Director of Veteran Services.

Our Veterans Services office, led by Keely, recently received high praise for their Veterans Affairs annual compliance review. The purpose of a compliance survey is to ensure that approved educational institutions are accurately reporting and submitting timely enrollment information for VA students receiving education benefits. Brandy Keely and the team at Carroll consistently receive excellent marks for the thorough and dedicated work they do on behalf of our students utilizing VA educational benefits.
