HELENA – Carroll College is partnering with the Helena School District to provide temporary classroom space for Rossiter Elementary School due to flooding in the Helena Valley. Carroll will host Rossiter students beginning Monday, May 14 through the end of the school year.
“The Helena community has embraced Carroll College during our times of need in the past such as the train explosion of 1989 which displaced many of our students living on campus. In turn, we are thankful to be in position to assist our fellow community members in their time of need and we welcome our Rossiter friends with open arms,” said Interim Carroll College President, Fr. Stephen Rowan.
Timing for the relocation is fortuitous as Carroll College completes the spring semester this Thursday, May 10, and is holding commencement on Saturday, May 12. In addition, students move out of the residence halls over the weekend.
Four hundred and seventy Rossiter students and 50 staff members will be occupying classrooms in St. Charles Hall, Simperman Hall, the Civil Engineering Building, as well as space in the Campus Center and the Hunthausen Activity Center. The Helena community should be aware of increased bus and parent pick-up and drop-off activity near campus during the hours of 8:00-9:00 a.m. and 3:00-4:00 p.m., Monday-Friday.
“I am grateful to the staff and faculty at Carroll College for accommodating this request and helping to make the transition as seamless as possible. We welcome the activity that the presence of these young, energetic students will bring to our campus during an otherwise quieter time of year for our college,” said Rowan.
