Carroll College Presidential Search Underway

Fortin Science Center

HELENA – Carroll College has begun a national search for its 18th president. The Carroll Board of Trustees has appointed a 13-person presidential search committee comprised of a cross-section of representatives from the college community. The committee, chaired by Board of Trustees member Tom Walsh ’81, includes faculty, staff, trustees, alumni and a current student. In addition, the college has retained the services of AGB Search to facilitate and assist with the process.

A series of meetings and open forums with key constituent groups were held on campus in late October to gather input and gain an understanding of the qualities the community is looking for in the next president of Carroll College. The presidential search committee, in partnership with AGB, developed a position description and institutional profile to help guide the committee and search firm in conducting the national search.

"Carroll College has been experiencing transformational growth and unprecedented philanthropy. Subsequently, we feel well-positioned for the future. We are excited to find a leader for the college who is knowledgeable and passionate about our mission, and ready and energized for the challenges ahead," said search committee chair, Tom Walsh.

Advertising has begun for the position and the Board of Trustees invites nominations and applications for Carroll’s 18th president. To ensure full consideration, applications should be received by January 8, 2018. The presidential search committee will begin a review of applications immediately and will continue work until an appointment is made.

The Trustees have set a target date of summer 2018 to replace former President Thomas Evans, PhD, who, in June, accepted the position of president at the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas. Rev. Stephen Rowan, PhD, has served as interim president for the college since August 1, 2017, and will continue to serve in this capacity until a successor is in place.
