2023-2024 Roy F. Simperman Nursing Scholarship

Wednesday, September 14, 2022

The Roy F. Simperman Nursing Scholarship was developed in 2011.  The scholarship is funded by Roy F. Simperman (Class of 1962) to provide funds to exceptionally needy Montana students who could not otherwise afford to attend Carroll College.  The funds that support these scholarships were obtained through capitalistic ventures in America’s free enterprise system which is shielded and guided by the principles depicted in the Constitution of the United States.  The scholarship is awarded to equalize the cost of attending Carroll College relative to the state of Montana public colleges and universities.

The scholarship amounts will be determined by the committee based on tuition, room and board comparisons to the state of Montana public colleges and universities.  The scholarship amounts will be significant enough to pay the difference between other gift aid offered and the total of tuition, room and board.  Scholarships will not exceed federal financial need and will consider all eligible federal grants and institutional merit aid first.  The scholarship awarded when added to other institutional and federal gift aid may not exceed tuition, room and board.  All scholarships will be of one year duration. However, the grants could be renewed upon annual review by the committee.  Criteria will be ability to succeed. Personal interview will be required with the committee in April.   The scholarships are awarded by a committee comprised of two local bank presidents, a Carroll faculty member, a community member at-large and a local doctor.  Average scholarship, per student, has been $8,000 a year.
