Spring New Student Orientation

Welcome to Carroll College! We’re very excited to welcome you to campus! The New Student Orientation is designed to provide you with essential information related to academic requirements and campus resources at Carroll. In addition, orientation activities provide you the opportunity to make valuable connections with the resources available to you. New student orientation at Carroll is designed to integrate students into our energetic learning environment while fostering new friendships and connections.

Spring Orientation Schedule

Sunday, January 16 - Student Arrival

1:00 p.m.

At 1:00 pm, please go to the St. Charles Lobby for your opening meeting. At this meeting we will answer any questions you may have, you will also be given instructions on how to connect all your devices to the Carroll internet. Questions? Following your opening meeting, you will begin the process of moving into your on-campus rooms. At the end of the meeting, Student Life Staff will escort you to Borromeo 131 where you will begin the move-in process.

Obtain your ID card -- Borromeo Hall 131, The student life staff will be there to help.  

Move into your rooms -- The student life staff will be present to help in all ways possible. Please start this process in Borromeo 131.

5:00 p.m.

Meal plan begins for students with meal plans--St. Thomas Aquinas Center (STAC), Upper Campus Center

5:30 p.m.

Dinner with our Peer Ministers. Meet in the Upper Campus Center at the welcome desk near the Bookstore before heading into the STAC.

7:00 p.m.

Mass (optional). Following dinner, for those who would like to attend Mass, Peer Ministers will accompany you and give you an introduction to the All Saints Chapel. For those who did not attend the dinner, meet at 6:45 p.m. in the All Saints Chapel foyer.

8:00 p.m.

An evening floor meet-and-g reet for on-campus students. We invite you to meet at your residence hall front desk. This will be a fun event where you get the opportunity to meet others and enjoy an evening event.  Presented by the Resident Assistant Team

  • Fee Payment -- This year the Business office will not be open on Sunday/ Monday.  New students will be contacted before arrival concerning any outstanding payments or fees they may have.  Financial Aid would like you to check your Self-Service Financial Aid account to ensure you completed all steps. Monday, January 17 - Orientation

Sessions have been created to cater to the individual students who are arriving at Carroll.

1:00 p.m.

Welcome Session. Meet in O’Connell Hall Room 107. Receive your welcome package and gifts. “Welcome and Title IX introduction” by Dean of Students, Annette Walstad and “How to use Carroll Applications” by Academic Advisor Cheri Long. At this time, Cheri will also show you how to sign up for one on one meetings.

2:00 p.m.

Break out sessions that cater to your individual situation.

  • Brandy Keely and Nicole Noel meet with Transfer students. OC 107
  • Annette Walstad meets with Readmit students. OC 106
  • Cheri Long meets with Freshman. OC 102
  • Shannon Ackeret will be meeting with the international students. OC 101

3:00 p.m.

Classroom Building Tour for students who would like to know where their classes are located. Meet at the Upper Campus Center front desk to begin this tour. Our Gold Team members will lead this tour. 

3:45 p.m.

Gold Team members put on a fun event. Join your fellow Carroll students at the top of Guad Hill for an opportunity to have some fun in a low-pressure environment. Dress warm as we will be sledding down Guad Hill on rafts!

Tuesday, January 18

12:30 - 2:00 p.m.

Taco Bar and Student Success Speed Networking. Meet in the Library Sage Room. Meet all your major contacts to assure you are successful at Carroll.

Tuesday/Wednesday One-on-one begins with Cheri, Shannon, Brandy, and Annette.

Three weeks into the semester, we will follow up with you to make sure all is going well.

Other Items to Note

  • Parking Permits: Students taking 6 or more credits receive a parking permit as part of their tuition and fees. Find out more
  • Don’t forget to submit your immunization records to the Wellness Center (Guadalupe Hall) during the first week of class!
