About

Dr. Doreen Kutufam arrived at Carroll College in the fall of 2006. Previously, she has taught at Syracuse University's Newhouse School of Public Communications (Teaching Assistant), National Film and Television Institute, University of Ghana and Central University College, all in Accra, Ghana. Dr. Kutufam was awarded the Fulbright Scholarship in 1997-1999. In the spring of 2010, Dr. Kutufam published her first book, entitled HIV/AIDS Communication: Applying Gender, Social and Cultural Identity, based on the doctoral dissertation she completed for her Ph.D. at the Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. Besides that, Dr. Kutufam has published journal articles and presented at various international conferences. She served as a member and then the Chair of the Helena International Affairs Council. She currently serves on the Helena Civic Television and Compassion Tanzania boards. She is the supervising faculty for Saint’s TV, a monthly student-produced TV program which airs on the local NBC affiliate, KTVH. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, watching movies, and reading.Research interests: Mass Media and Health Education; Race and Gender in Media, Communication and Social change; & Visual Media Effects
