The Mission of the Parish Nurse Center

The Parish Nurse Center was formally established in 1999 to provide education, consultation and support for parish nursing and health ministry. The Center has offered a 35-hour continuing education preparation course for basic parish nursing and health ministry yearly since 1998, and has prepared over 325 parish nurses and health ministers.

In addition, the director provides on-going consultation and support to individual faith communities on how to establish health outreach programming and maintain this as an active and vital service to the greater community.

The Center serves as the hub for parish nursing and health ministry statewide in publishing a newsletter, housing a web site and publishing a yearly directory. The Center serves as an infrastructure for statewide health outreach.
