Greetings!

Hoping you had a good summer to refresh and renew as we head into the autumn season.

April 2008 brought a very meaningful retreat led by Patte Paquette. The theme of "Enhancing Your Health Ministry: Come Fill Your Cup" came to life with the use of Joyce Rupp’s book The Cup of Life. We reflected on receiving from God the cup of grace and love. Here was our prayer reflection that might help us as we enter into a new season:

Hold an empty cup in your hands. Look at all the room the cup has for filling. Picture your inner self. Ask God to help you open yourself up. Ask God to fill you. Remember Psalm 25: God makes me lie down in green pastures; he leads me besides quiet waters, he restores my soul.

June 2008 brought new parish nurses prepared in Cheyenne, Wyoming. What a blessing it was to get to know these new nurses and see the enthusiasm for parish nursing. Participating in the preparation course with the Wyoming Health Council under the direction of Carol Peterson was a great blessing for me.

Look for a fall newsletter coming out.

As you look to your ministry in parish nursing here is a prayer from Janice Stephens (a member of the Wyoming class).
Heavenly God, I thank you that you are GOD, the master designer and planner. Your plans for me are good and not evil… to give me hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11.

Blessings to you! Cynthia Gustafson
