Histogram Applet

This applet is designed to demonstrate how bin width affects a histogram, and our interpretation of data. The histograms below contain data for the Old Faithful geyser in Yellowstone National Park from 1978 (left) and 2003 (right). The observations are the length of time, in minutes, between eruptions. You can change the bin width by dragging the arrow underneath the bin width scale.
