DC Internship with Senator Jon Tester, Fall 2009

A Washington D.C. internship with Senator Jon Tester is a unique opportunity for students to observe the workings of the U.S. Senate first-hand. Applicants who are motivated, hard-working, and eager to learn are welcome to apply.

*INTERNSHIPS AT A GLANCE*

Senator Tester's internship program provides an exciting experience for students interested in public service to participate in the legislative process.

  • We are currently seeking applicants for the Fall 2009 Session.
  • The program is open to undergraduate students of all majors, and while preference is given to Montana residents, all students are encouraged to apply.
  • Interns will be responsible for legislative research, constituent services, and more.
  • Application requirements: a completed application form (available on our website http://tester.senate.gov), a cover letter, current resume, three letters of recommendations and writing sample.
 

Intern responsibilities involve administrative and legislative work.  Administrative work includes welcoming people in the front office, answering the phones and sorting mail.  Legislative work includes researching issues pertaining to healthcare, education, judiciary, commerce, budget and tax, agriculture, energy, trade and foreign policy.  Interns will attend hearings and prepare follow up memos.  Please note that our internships are unpaid.
