Nominate someone you know for the Hunthausen Outstanding Citizenship Award

We're seeking to acknowledge students who exhibit a commitment to community. Many Carroll College students donate volunteer time for a multitude of projects, social service and social justice causes, and we want to hear about them!

Since 1986 Carroll College has presented the Raymond G. Hunthausen Award for Community Service to deserving students who make outstanding contributions to the college or a community (Helena or other).

The award was named for Archbishop Hunthausen because of his own commitment to peace and justice in his personal life and in his work with the Catholic Church.

Each year, when the selection committee sits down to select the recipients for award, we look for those students who go about quietly serving others with no thought of remuneration, no thought of being singled out for recognition. We seek those individuals who exhibit a sense of commitment to others, for the goal of assisting and giving to others from their own personal sense of unselfish service.

All Carroll students are eligible. The guidelines are: nominations can be by self, peer, faculty/staff, or by someone from the community in which the effort is/was performed; all students with a minimum of 2.0 are eligible. Paid positions are less likely to be considered than volunteer effort.

Hard copies of the form are available in Career & Testing Services, or you can request to have another electronic one sent to you by email from Rosie Walsh at .

We want to make sure that every deserving student has a chance to be selected for this award. Please be thinking about those of your peers that you may wish to nominate, and "talk it up" among your friends. I am requesting your assistance in identifying students who merit this award.  Thank you!

Deadline date for receiving completed nomination forms is the Friday prior to Spring Break, this year, Friday, March 5, 2010. Certificates will be presented to each recipient at the annual Honors Convocation in April.

Sincerely,

Rosie Walsh
