Guidelines

Carroll provides a digital telephone and voice mail system in each dorm room for students. The phones are provided at no cost to students living in the dorm and include voice mail, call forwarding, call waiting, and call transfer. The college also provides long distance at 8 cents per minute, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Because our system is digital, your phone and answering machine from home will not work in the residence halls. You may use a calling card that is connected to your home phone but Carroll does not offer calling cards through the Carroll number. Your phone number is registered to the room you are staying in. If you move, the number stays with the room and you will receive a different number in your new room. The area code for the college is (406) and the prefix is 447-XXXX.

You may sign up for a PIN (personal identification number) at the main switchboard in O'Connell Hall. You will need a PIN number to make long distance calls or to dial an (800) number. All long distance users of Carroll's phone system are governed by the phone policy in regard to billing of long distance charges.

Carroll College Phone User Policy

Users will receive a monthly bill by the 5th of the month for the previous month. Payments will be made to Carroll College Business Office through campus mail, or in person. All accounts must be paid in full within ten business days. Any account unpaid at the due date will be subject to termination of service. Any outstanding account balance will be transferred to his/her student account and will affect his/her ability to register for classes and receive transcripts. Returned checks will be billed to the user's account, including a $20.00 service charge. The user will then be required to make full payment within 5 business days after notification or telephone service will be terminated immediately. If the user's monthly bill exceeds $100.00 at the time of billing, the service will be terminated. Payment will need to be made in order to reconnect service. Users shall be responsible for all the calls placed with his/her PIN number. Fraudulent use of a PIN number to attempt theft of telephone service can and will be monitored and the evidence provided to the appropriate college and legal authorities.

Stop by the O'Connell Hall reception area or call (406) 447-4300 if you have any questions about Carroll's phone system.
