EXERCISE #1 - CORETTE LIBRARY TOUR SECTION:___________________________
Total possible points : 80.
This exercise is designed to help you become more familiar with the Corette Library's basic resources and where to find them, both in the building and on-line.
Referring to the attached floor plans, please complete this sheet. Numbers on the floor plan correspond to numbered sections on this sheet.
1. Begin at the Information Desk. The reference librarians spend as much time as possible at the Info desk. If you need help with a research question and no one is at the Info desk, please ask at the Circulation Desk, near the library entrance to see if a reference librarian is available.

- Ask at either desk for the password to use InfoTrac or Gale Group databases to use off campus. Staple the information received to this assignment. (5 points)
2. Go to the Reference collection (the shelves directly in front of you when you enter the library). Note the Library of Congress call numbers on the book spines, and what subjects are cataloged under the letters of the alphabet. Find the PE section. What is the title of one of the multi-volume reference works located in the PE section? Also note how many volumes are in this set. (10 points)

3. While you are in the Reference collection, pick a subject section that are interested in and in the space below write the author (or editor); title; and complete call number (including the Ref-) (15 points)

- Now go to the periodical shelves (see #6 on map); and using the first two lines of the call number of the reference book; write down the title and complete call number of a journal in that subject area. (10 points)

- Now go to the stacks (downstairs) and again using the first two lines of the call number from the reference book, find a circulation book in the same subject. Write down the author, complete title and call number. NOTE: if you are using a juvenile or oversize material, please include the location symbol (ex. Juv-) as the first line of the call number. (10 points)

- Go to the northeast corner of the library's main floor and locate the Government Documents collection. Look at the chart "How to find a U.S. Government Publications". NOTE: this collection is not arranged by Library of Congress but by Superintendent of Documents (SuDocs) classification. What government agency does the call number (first letters) L. Write down the complete title and call number of a document published by this agency. (10 points)
