1. SEARCHING Search the Corette Library catalog (OPAC) to find a book on your subject.
Ø What type of search did you do? (search method, field searched, e.g., browse, title)

2. SELECTING
If your search retrieves more than one item, select one and click on “details”. Scroll down to the bottom of the record and look under Material and Location (in blue).Make sure your selection is a book – “Book” should be listed under Material and “Stacks” should be listed under Location.Searching on subject terms of relevant hits is a good way to find related material.
§ Click on the “Catalog Record” tab.
§ Write down one subject term listed for your selected book.
[If you don’t find any subject headings, look at the box on the left that has the blue button “Mark” at the top and click on “Nearby Items on the Shelf”. Go into one of those records and find a subject term].
3. CREATING A BIBLIOGRAPHY
You can create a bibliography by marking one or more items in your list of search results.
§ Click on the purple “Mark” button.
§ Print the bibliography – click on the button on the top right of the page.
§ Click the button on the bottom right of the page
§ In Firefox, click File on the top menu bar and click Print. In IE, click the print icon.
§ Attach the copy to this page.
4. WRITE A BIBLIOGRAPHIC CITATION FOR YOUR BOOK
Write a bibliographic citation for this book using the correct format from your style guide (e.g. MLA). This is not identical to what appears on the OPAC screen.
5. FINDING ADDITIONAL BOOKS
Find additional books on your subject using WorldCat.
§ Click on the WorldCat link located on the Library homepage
§ Click on the “Subjects” button (upper left).
§ Search the Library of Congress Subject Headings for a subject relevant to your topic.
