The Montana Food Distributors Association (MFDS) awards four scholarships annually.
(1) at $1,000
(3) at $500
The MFDA Scholarship Committee uses eight criteria to evaluate each application. The score for each criterion ranges from zero to five (0-5). Students with the top three criteria ratings win the scholarships.
Criteria are as follows:
* AGE- students entering post secondary education the Fall after high school graduation receive a top rating (5).
* HOME- Montana residents receive the highest rating (5).
* HIGH SCHOOL- Montana high school grads receive a top rating (5). Graduates of out-of-state schools or a combination of Montana and out-of-state schools rate lower.
* GRADE POINT AVERAGE - Valedictorians or 4.0 graduates receive a rating of (5). Lower GPA's rate progressively lower.
* INTENDED COLLEGE - Students attending a Montana College or University rate higher than those who are attending out-of-state schools.
* FINANCIAL NEED - The greater the need, the higher this rating.
* STUDENT'S/PARENT'S WORKPLACE- Applicants or their parents or both who are employed at MFDA member businesses rate above those who are not employed at MFDA businesses.
* SPONSOR'S WORKPLACE - Applicants with sponsor(s) working at MFDA member businesses rate above those who do not.
