TYPICAL DUTIES:
This position provides timely and proficient targeted case management to individuals who are developmentally disabled; and establishes a positive working partnership with individual consumers in order to strongly advocate for their needs, supports and desires to enhance the quality of their lives. The incumbent evaluates and assesses individual needs for necessary services and supports and coordinates and monitors all services that the individual received; and demonstrates a genuine concern for the welfare and safety of the individual through frequent, personal contacts.

KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (COMPETENCIES) DESIRED:

Knowledges: Knowledge of the principles and practices of social work, human development, behavior management and developmental disabilities; of policies and procedures related to individuals with developmental disabilities; and of all community resources, agencies and programs in order to link individuals to supports that will enhance his or her life in the community.

Skills: Skill in communicating effectively orally and in writing; exercising professional judgment in evaluating situations and making sound decisions; and organizing and prioritizing job duties in order to comply to all Medicaid requirements.

Abilities: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with agency personnel, consumers of case management services, family members, multi-disciplinary teams and other involved professionals who represent other agencies and non-profit corporations; and to work flexible hours on an infrequent basis.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
A Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related behavioral science and two years experience in working with individuals with developmental disabilities.

APPLICATION AND SELECTION PROCESS:
This position is being advertised outside the agency and in-house applicants must compete with the outside applicant pool. Interested persons must submit the following prior to the closing date to be considered:

1. Signed state application (PD-25, Rev.7/99 or 5/01);
2. Applicants claiming the Veteran’s or Disabled Person’s Employment Preference (see State of Montana Employment Application, PD-25) must provide verification of eligibility with the application materials. The required documentation includes a DD-214 or PHHS Certification of Disability form;
3. Copy of transcripts for any coursework at a college or technical school. COMPENSATION:
Eligible state employees are also provided paid health, dental, vision and life insurance. Other benefits including a deferred compensation program, public employees retirement system, annual leave, sick leave, paid holidays and up to 15 days military leave with full pay.
