I liked the movie, "Corky Romano." It was a nice piece about the ties between family, friends, and significant others. I liked how Corky (Chris Kattan) fit the exact stereotype of how the media portrays gays, but he was straight. That just goes to show, you can't judge people by how they act or dress. You have to get to know them first.
"Corky Romano" was a fun movie with lots of laughs and a few tears. Corky is an ex-member of the Romano family business; in other words his relatives are part of the Mafia.
Corky had been kicked out of the family, keeping only the family name as a remnant of his past. Following his dreams, Corky found a job as a veterinarian’s assistant. He proved very clumsy, but meant well.
"Pops" Romano (Peter Falk) was in a tight spot. The FBI was gathering evidence to win a lawsuit against the family. Pops found out that one of his men had been leaking information to the FBI. Pops figured that if the FBI was going to send an agent undercover, then the Family should make a move, too by – sending someone undercover to destroy the evidence against the mob. Pops couldn't send his other two sons, Paul and Chris Penn. The FBI already had photos of those two.
The Family finally decides on the least likely person who could get the job done - the outcast son, Corky Romano.
Corky has had a horrible day at work, in which he has opened a snake's cage, shot a cat in the eye with the syringe that was supposed to kill the cat, knocked over the cage and released a bird, and knocked over everything in the room. This is one of the oldest stunts in the world, but never ceases to amuse the audience.
To make a long story shot, though it's probably too late for that, Corky gets sent into the FBI undercover. He isn't assigned to his father’s case, but rather a heroin/murder case. He solves both cases, helps his father, catches the drug dealer, falls in love with Kate Russo (Vinessa Shaw), gets married, and lives happily ever after.
I liked the movie, overall. I would recommend this movie to people of 10 years old and up. Kids that age probably have already heard all the words and seen just about all of the scenes. There aren't any sexual scenes, unless you count some of the photos that the Romano brothers take of bums and breasts. There is, however, a fair amount of violence, but nothing the kids can't handle.
I didn't really want to see this movie at first, but it was a pleasant surprise when I did.
