
The Carroll College women’s soccer team announced the signing of two more recruits to its 2010 class on Monday.
Kailey Edgar and Christa Saur have signed NAIA/Frontier Conference National Letters of Intent with the Saints.
Edgar, from Eagle High School in Star, Idaho, has been playing for the Les Bois Soccer Association from the age of 9 and brings a much-decorated soccer resume to the Saints team. Her club team has won state championships from 2001-2005 and 2007 to the present and also won the US Club Super Group Regional in 2008 and 2009. They finished second at the US Club National Championship in 2008 and third in 2009. Story
The Carroll College women's soccer team announced the addition of two more recruits to its 2010 class on February 16. McKinley Dennis of Eugene, Ore., and Paige Williams from Lakewood, Colo., have signed their NAIA/Frontier Conference Letter of Intent paperwork to play for the Saints next fall.
McKinley "Macky" Dennis has been a four-year varsity player for Marist High School in Oregon where she was the team leader in assists and second in goals (18) her senior year. She was a Sky Em All-District player her sophomore and junior years and garnished first team Sky Em honors this last fall. Marist High School took second place at state in 2006 and 2007 and was the Sky Em League Champion from 2006-2008.
Dennis also played club ball for the Eugene Metro Futbol Club from 2004-2006, with the FC Willamette team since 2007, and is a member of the Oregon Girls' 92's ODP team. In addition to soccer, Dennis played varsity basketball for Marist High School since her freshman year. She was an honor roll student all four years of high school, maintaining at least a 3.5 GPA, and plans to study nursing at Carroll College. Story
The Carroll College women’s soccer team received NAIA/Frontier Conference Letters of Intent from Helena High’s Haley Jensen and C. M. Russell’s Macie Netz, Saints head coach Dave Thorvilson announced on Tuesday.
Jensen, a co-captain for the Bengals last fall, has been a three-year varsity player and was the second-leading scorer for Helena High in 2009. A versatile player, she prefers the attacking positions on the field, but can also play an outside defender if needed. Story
Carroll College placed six players on the All-Frontier Conference First Team, led by sophomore forward Meghan O’Connell’s election as Player of the Year. O’Connell led the conference in goals for a second straight year with 14, adding a team-high seven assists.
“Meghan started off a little slow this year, I think since people knew about her,” Carroll head coach Dave Thorvilson said. “She had to work a little bit harder and towards the end of the season she really started clicking again.”
Thorvilson himself garnered the conference’s Coach of the Year honor for a second time, he also received the award in 2007, after leading the Saints to a 15-4-1 overall record and the Frontier title. Story
Senior defender Katie Martin was selected as a member of the 2009 NAIA Women's Soccer All-America team. This is Head Coach David Thorvilson’s forth All-American in the last three years. Story
