Parish Nurse Center

Carroll’s Department of Nursing supports the work of the Parish Nurse Center which was established in 1999 with a grant from the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth Health Care Systems.

The center offers education, consultation and support for parish nurse ministry in Montana. The 35-hour preparation course is offered each year for nursing students or registered nurses, and has recently expanded to include others interested in health ministry.

Over 300 nurses have completed the course and there are over 120 active parish nurse programs in the state.

Swaziland, Africa Trip

Several nursing students and parish nurses from the region traveled to Africa during the Christmas break in 2002, 2003 & 2004 and in May 2006 (read story from this trip). They agreed their lives were forever changed by the experience of working with the Parish nurses of that country in delivering care to the many AIDS HIV residents of Swaziland.
