Internships
Carroll's Biology and Chemistry Programs offer students excellent internship opportunities with the Montana Department of Environmental Quality, Shodair Hospital Cytogenetics Laboratory, private environmental consultant firms, and the Montana Heritage Program. In addition to the academic credits earned during the internship, students have an opportunity to apply classroom principles to real problems around Montana. Manion Scholars
Outstanding students from the junior and senior classes are selected as Manion Scholars. Recipients of this honor are selected based on outstanding achievements in three areas: academic performance, participation in science or health field activities, and citizenship to the College and Helena community. The 2007-08 recipients of this honor are Aaron Bertoni, Scott Milch, Jenna Emerson, Ben Noland and Maria Miller. Manion Scholars are eligible for a scholarship funded through the Dr. James Manion Endowment Fund.
This fund was established in the 1980s in memory of Dr. James Manion, a member of the Carroll Faculty for 31 years. 'Doc' Manion's commitment in the classroom and the biology laboratory symbolized his caring - for students, for his profession of teaching, for Carroll College. This fund also supports the Manion chair, the Manion Symposium, student summer research projects and equipment purchases.

The 2007 summer research project of Dr. Kyle Strode and senior Rebecca Coates is supported by the Steve and Joe Pat Ryan Distinguished Professorship in Chemistry. This is the fourth year of this endowment which supports undergraduate research in the field of chemistry.
