2008 Math Modeling Contest

The COMAP Mathematical Contest in Modeling results are in, and once again our Carroll students did well! We had 1 Meritorious Winner team, 3 Honorable Mention teams, and 3 Successful Participant teams.  This year's Meritorious Winner means that for each of the last 7 years, Carroll has placed at least one team in the top 13% world-wide!  Congratulations Carroll Modeling team members!

A total of 1542 teams from around the world participated in this year's contests - only 297 (19%) from the US and the other 81% from Australia, Canada, China, Finland, Germany, Indonesia, Ireland, Jamaica, Korea, Mexico, Singapore, South Africa, and the United Kingdom.  In all, 12 (<1%) received Outstanding Winner designations, 214 ( 13%) received Meritorious Winner designations, 653 (42%) received Honorable Mention designations, 661 (44%) received Succesful Participant designations, and 2 (<1%) were Unsuccesful Participants.

2006 Math Modeling

The team of Kyle Nixon, Steffan Francischetti, and Ben Dunham received a ranking of OUTSTANDING in the Mathematical Contest in Modeling! This places them in the top 1% worldwide, and in the company of Harvard, MIT, Duke, Rice, RPI, CU-Boulder, UC-Davis, and 2 teams from China. Find out more about Math Modeling.
