Registration Information

The Pastoral Ministry Program, a program of formation for lay ministers, is now accepting applications for the 2012-2014 program years! Further down this screen, you will see two application form choices.

If you would like simply to participate in the program and enjoy all the learning and fun that goes along with it, select the first registration form (for those not seeking Carroll credit). You may also open the file by clicking here. The total cost for participation in both years of the program for this option is $800 ($400/year).

If you would like to earn transferrable, Carroll College credit for one or more of the semesters you spend in the program, or formally to earn a Certificate in Pastoral Ministry (which requires twelve credits), select the second registration form (for those wanting Carroll credit). You may also open the file by clicking here. The cost for tuition is $500/class (each class is three credits). Those seeking to earn the Certificate in Pastoral Ministry will enroll for all four courses. In that case, total cost for participation in both years of the program for this option is $2,800 ($500 tuition fee/course x four courses PLUS $400 annual program fee x two years).

As noted on the main page of the program website, the tuition cost for these credits is a nearly 80% discount on Carroll's normal tuition rate! What a bargain!

Details about Earning Carroll College credit

Some participants in the Pastoral Ministry Program may want to earn transferrable, college credit from Carroll College. We provide that option! Some will want just three, six or nine credits. Others will want to earn all twelve credits, which will entitle them to receive the Certificate in Pastoral Ministry.

If you are interested in earning Carroll College credit, you will register for one or more of the following courses during the two years of the program:

Year One, Fall Semester: TH-289A, "PM/Theological Foundations" (3 credits)

Year One, Spring Semester: TH-289B, "PM/History of Christianity" (3 credits)

Year Two, Fall Semester: TH-289C, "PM/Survey of Christian Ethics" (3 credits)

Year Two, Spring Semester: TH-289D, "PM/Philosophy and Christianity" (3 credits)

As noted above, if you would like to take one or more of these courses, you would pay the tuition fee of $500/course in addition to the program participation fee of $400/year. Everyone is encouraged to use their time participating in this program to earn some college credit, should you so desire. Again, though, only those seeking to earn the Certificate in Pastoral Ministry will need to sign up for all twelve credits.

SOME EXTRA WORK: If you are enrolled in any one of these courses during your time in the Pastoral Ministry Program, you will receive a letter grade for the course. This means you will have some work that needs to be graded along the way. Participants in the program who are also enrolled for one of the courses will be asked to do some reading and a writing assignment in advance of each class session. That assignment will be graded and returned to you at the following meeting. The good news is that there will not be a final examination at the end of each course. Your writing assignments will replace any need to have a final exam. That should be a relief!   :)
