GIS Certificate Requirements

The GIS Certificate is designed, similar to a minor, to allow students from any background to add it to their degree and skill set. Unlike a minor, it does not require the students to get a major or degree to accompany it. The Introductory class, GIS 110, and GIS 220 are (or equivalent classes or work experience) are required for the remaining classes. The remaining classes, although they may be taken in any order, must be taken at Carroll and passed with at least a C.

The Certificate is comprised of 12 credits made up of:

Required:

• GIS 110 Introduction to GIS (3 credits, offered every semester)
• GIS 220  GIS Databases (2 credits, offered every semester)
• GIS 430 GIS Project (3 credits, odd years, spring semester)

4 Credits chosen from: 

• GIS 221 Remote Data Acquisition (2 credits, even years, spring semester)
• GIS 315 Spatial Analysis (2 credits, fall semester)
• GIS 316 Raster Analysis (2 credits, odd years, spring semester)
