A Message from Dr. Scharf
PERSONALLY, AND ON BEHALF OF ALL CARROLL FACULTY AND STAFF, I congratulate each student for success in completing an honors thesis. For these students, such an achievement is usually the culmination of significant academic and scholarly successes during their time at Carroll. We honor each of you, and we join you in celebrating your success.
Completing an honors thesis is necessary for Carroll students to graduate with honors but, more importantly, it provides distinguished students with a significant opportunity to exercise and exhibit their creativity, analytical abiltiy, and research skills. An honors thesis project typically spans several semesters, often times including summer research, and is culminated by writing the thesis and making a formal presentation of the work. In keeping with academic traditions and standards for academic and scholarly excellence, each honors thesis student is required to have his or her thesis critiqued and finally accepted and approved by a thesis director and two other readers drawn from the academy of scholars.
Completing an honors thesis is a significant milestone along the road to full acceptance into the academy. Again, I congratulate you and I welcome you to this new level of membership and participation.
