Carroll’s civil engineering program provides a combination of solid, technical preparation, a strong emphasis on written and oral communication skills, and a broad suite of humanities coursework.

The civil engineering curriculum contains four areas of emphasis: structures, water resources, environmental engineering, and transportation systems. Students will take course in each of these areas during their four years as a civil engineering major at Carroll (check out the four-year course plan below).

Consonant with the mission of the college the civil engineering major "is dedicated to providing for its students the means for their full realization of a dual goal of vocation and enlightenment."

To this end the civil engineering major is designed to blend the unique characteristics of Catholic liberal arts education with preparation for productive and rewarding professional careers. The four professional educational objectives of Carroll's civil engineering program are to produce graduates who have:

  1. The specialized knowledge and skills required by the profession of civil engineering
  2. A broad range of skills necessary for effective communication
  3. An appreciation for the interrelationships among the branches of knowledge
  4. The ethical, social, and aesthetic perspectives that are necessary for values-based judgment and decision-making

Civil Engineering Lab

Carroll's Civil Engineering Laboratory houses facilities for materials testing, for hydraulics and fluid mechanics experiments, and for research and development work. Check it out!
