Centennial Arts Committee
The Centennial Arts Committee is an advisor to the President and Centennial Coordinating Committee and will:
- Be a clearinghouse for proposals by artists, faculty, staff, students, alumni and community members concerning ideas, proposals, and requests for recognition of arts projects as part of Carroll's Centennial Celebration;
- Make recommendations on the practicality and significance of possible arts events during the Centennial; and
- Identify possible funding sources and support fundraising efforts.
Art Proposal Criteria
Proposals for creating or presenting art works or projects will be
- developed to honor Carroll College;
- tied to Carroll's history, mission or Catholic traditions;
- created by current or former faculty, staff, students or supporters of Carroll;
- created by noted local, regional, or national artists specifically for the Centennial; or
- tied to Helena, the Diocese of Helena, or Montana.

Carroll academic departments will be developing projects for the Centennial in line with the ongoing activities of the departments. The Committee will support those efforts. The Committee requests that individual departments inform the Committee of activities to help maintain a common Centennial calendar of arts events.
Art Proposals that submitted for approval:
- Dr. Richard Buswell, Carroll alumni and local doctor, will do a Carroll photo exhibit during the Centennial year.
- A yearlong series of art exhibits in the Carroll gallery curated by Ralph Esposito to include Montana artists, Carroll Alumni, and artists with work reflecting the traditions of the College.
- A musical composition written for the Centennial by Lynn Petersen -- a work that could be performed throughout the year by the Carroll Choir.
- Co-sponsorship with St. Mary's Church to bring an exhibit of sacred art centered on image of Mary.
- Bob Morgan painting of Carroll College in recognition of the Centennial.
- The Myrna Loy Center is investigating the costs of bringing Project Bandaloop for a day's event of an aerial dance off one of the college's structures. The MLC will seek support for the project to supplement Carroll's support.
- The Myrna Loy is developing a project with Victoria Marks, Professor of Dance at UCLA. She made one site visit and met with members of the faculty especially the Science departments and the Theology Department discussing evolution. This project is being financially supported by the Myrna Loy Center.
- Murphy Fox will edit a special Carroll literary journal for the Centennial with Ed Noonan's assistance. In March 2008, an announcement seeking literary submissions. A submission for the journal can be fiction or non-fiction and should fit one of the following criteria:
- It is written by a current or former faculty, staff, or student;
- It deals specifically with Carroll and its history;
- It deals with Helena, the Diocese of Helena, or Montana;
- It is tied to the Mission of the college; or
- It was written as an academic work at Carroll.
- The Carroll Fine Arts Department and work study students propose to develop a digitized collection of fine arts photos across the years from the College's archives.
