There is a one credit class you can take (pass/fail or for a grade) that is tailor-made for you . This class is appropriate for freshmen and sophomore students who need/desire assistance in determining an academic major or help in deciding upon an appropriate occupation or career.This class is particularly helpful for students whose plans change due to a variety of reasons, such as:
Additionally, the feedback from students who have completed this course in the past indicates that it undeniably makes a difference for them. Please note that the course was inadvertently left out of the Spring 2010 Class Schedule (as were all LAS courses). It will be taught Mondays from 3:30-4:20 PM in Borromeo Hall, room 112. There is a $35.00 course fee to help defray the cost of several career assessment tools that will be used during the class. There is no textbook.

Seniors: Concerned about how to navigate the rough seas of today's job market?
LAS 489, The Job Campaign for Graduating Seniors is designed to provide graduating senior students with the necessary career management skills to effectively identify and compete for professional career opportunities. Activities covered in the course include principles, methods, and practice in achieving career goals with emphasis on: exploration of career opportunities in one’s field, job market trends, identification of strengths, resume development, cover letter composition, mastering behavioral-style interviewing, salary and benefits negotiations, effective networking strategies, budgeting and personal finance issues, professional image, and the use of technology in achieving career goals. The class will be taught Spring Semester 2010 on Wednesdays from 3:30 – 4:20 pm. Room TBA. You may take it for a grade or pass/fail.
